SPONSORSHIP DRIVE CONTINUES WITH NEW PARTNERS - CARBOLITE-GERO, RETSCH, SOLIDWORKS
SHU Racing has continued its early season sponsorship drive with deals from Carbolite-Gero, Retsch and Dassault Systems (SolidWorks).
Carbolite-Gero, a manufacture of high-quality high-temperature laboratory and industry furnaces, has offered up its support to the SHU Racing team for the 2019 season. Carbolite-Gero have previously sponsored the team back in 2016, and are back with a new enthusiasm to help propel the team to greatness at FSUK 2019.
Located local to Sheffield, in the village of Hope in the peak district, Carbolite-Gero manufacture their relatively lukewarm 1800°C furnaces - compared with the 3000°C oven manufactured in Southern Germany! Carbolite-Gero are capable of manufacturing furnaces that suit even varying atmospheric conditions, such as vacuum and modified atmosphere ovens.

New for 2019, Retsch are a global leader in the preparation and size reduction of lab based samples. Also located close to Sheffield, Retsch have a long standing tradition of producing laboratory processing equipment to the highest standard. Retsch's contribution to the team is further allowing them to increase its engineering ability, as well as development as a professional racing outfit.
With their impressive line of Sieves, Mills and Sample preparation machines, Retsch have the ability to process materials down to 100 nanometers, decreasing the initial sample by 10,000 times its size! SHU Racing are looking forward to partnering with a company working to such precision, we hope that their eye for fineness rubs off on the accurate work of our engineers!
Once again, Dassault Systems has provided support to the SHU Racing team with its licenses of SolidWorks. Sheffield Hallam University use SolidWorks as its primary CAD modelling software, and so every engineering designer on the team is capable of operating and maximising the abilities of the software. SHU Racing’s engineer can now utilise the software away from the usual facilities, allowing our team to edit, display and verify designs wherever they may be.
SolidWorks is a great, user friendly CAD package that allows the operator to easily model up ideas in the 3D space. The class leading User Interface means that the team have been able to show team members who may have never used CAD before, to generate their own parts and further contribute to the car. Finite Element Analysis and rendering tools further allow validation and display of our designs, again in a simple, user friendly manner. Student can also further practice their CAD skills for their other modules away from university, increasing scree time and again, further refining their skills.
Our engineers are looking forward to the prospect of increasing the utilisation of the software away from the laboratory setting.
