SHU Racing Learns to Win
Its been another busy week for the team as we learn to win, welcome back old faces and power on with our designs!
Sheffield Hallam Alumni Evening
On Wednesday, 23rd October, Sheffield Hallam University's Department of Engineering and Maths welcomed back many of its alumni for an evening of networking with both lecturers and students. With talks from Paul Rawlinson, Managing Director at TBG Solutions and Samuel Seabrooke, former SHU Racing Team Principal and now graduate OCS Engineer at Mott MacDonald, the evening was a fantastic chance for the team to learn about the experiences of Hallam graduates and how their time at university has shaped them into the professional engineers they are today.
SHU Racing also took the opportunity to display our heritage with the 2017 and 2018 car on display together along with the 2019 car for the first time ever. Showing the progression of SHU Racing from first time on track in 2017 to experienced contenders in 2019, we can't wait to show you what we are working on for our 2020 season. The previous cars will now be displayed in the Hertha Ayrton Stem centre for all to see.
SHU Racing would like to take this opportunity to thank the university and Mark Thompson for involving us in such a fantastic evening.
Learning to Win
On Friday the SHU Racing attended the first key date in our season calendar with the IMechE Learn to Win event, held at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Coventry.
The event gives teams an insight in how they can improve their overall performance with lectures and workshops held by scrutineers and judges.
For SHU Racing, it gave our managers a chance to find out more about the new 2020 rules, how to score the most points in each of the different events and an opportunity to talk with judges and scrutineers about what they look for in a great formula student car.
With over 25 teams in attendance, it was a great opportunity to speak with teams from around the country and get a closer look at some of the FSUK 2019 competitors. We’re looking forward to seeing how they all progress in the run up to FSUK 2020.
Attending the Learn to Win event has given our managers a great start to the season and how they can work on finalising their designs as we approach our mid season design review.

Reason for joining SHU Racing: Having a lifelong passion for cars and motorsport, joining Formula Student was the thing I was most excited about when starting at University. It allowed me to focus my interests on an exciting project and join a team of like-minded individuals. Best of all I get to see something I have worked on put to the test.
